How to Choose

Step 1: Choose Your Plank Width
Measure the width of your door opening at the threshold. To ensure stability, we recommend using at least two planks and selecting a width that does not exceed half of your total opening.

  • 3' doors → Qty 2 @ 15"
  • 4'–8' doors → Qty 2 @ 23"
  • 9'–16' doors → Qty 2 @ 35"

Want full-width coverage? Simply add more planks as needed—just be sure the combined width does not exceed your door opening.

Step 2: Choose Your Plank Length
Measure the vertical rise from the ground to the top of your threshold. Also consider the clearance of the equipment or items you’ll be moving across the ramp.

The greater the rise or lower the equipment clearance, requires a longer ramp to maintain a safe, gradual slope and prevent high centering. Use these general guidelines:

  • 0–6" rise → 36–48" length
  • 7–12" rise → 54" length
  • 13–18" rise → 60" length
  • 19–24" rise → 66–72" length

Need something longer than 72"? Contact us, we offer custom ramp solutions!

Step 3: Choose Your Duty Rating
For proper performance, loads should be applied along the centerline of each plank. To determine the required capacity, divide the total weight of your equipment by the number of wheels. General guidelines:

  • Standard Duty: Foot traffic, Riding lawn mowers, ATVs
  • Heavy Duty: Side-by-sides, Golf carts
  • Ultra Heavy Duty: Compact Tractors, Bass boat

Always ensure the plank rating meets or exceeds your calculated load requirement.

Step 4: Choose Your Plank Top Style (Connection Type)

Standard Top: Requires an IM threshold for a flush, secure, tool-free connection and removal. Best choice for maximum stability.

Universal Top: Sits directly on your threshold without additional hardware. A convenient option when ease of setup is preferred over maximum stability.
